I now know something about Susan B. Anthony I dinnant know before.
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

I've gotten 12 in a row right -- now I'm terrified to answer for fear I'll miss! Yikes!

That's ironic, coming from someone who once confidently got 15 in a row.

IIRC, it was unfinished and not published until sometime in the 1920s.

That's been my month so far - much better than November was - and one of the misses was a stupid going for speed points thing and not reading the answers completely.

I've now doomed myself to 9 impossible questions to finsh out 2008.

I got a 10% question right and only got 200 bonus points. The correct answer was buried in the middle, so it took me a few seconds to find it.

I guess speed is more important than competing percentages. :(

I think speed is the only thing that counts for bonus points. In a more perfect world, though, I agree that the speed points ought to be increased or decreased according to some formula that takes into account the percentage of correct answers.
