I'm carping about the AMOUNT of rain. There's a pool forming in my front yard, which we've had regraded to no effect. I have to jump over the puddle at the end of my driveway to get into the road with dry feet if I'm walking.

Our drainage is close to non-existent.

It doesn't take much at all for the rain to pool at the ends of driveways here. You're either gonna get wet or muddy going to the car....

I remember seeing people use little brooms in Denver. They just whisked it right off the windshield. Here it's soggy mushy stuff that seeps into your bones and bloodstream and saps your will to live. It can stay as far away as possible.

My boys fight over who gets to shovel. For about 16 seconds. Then they get the idea it's a lot less fun than it looks at first............

Speaking of 8 years ago, it will be 8 years Saturday since that big snow we had that stayed on the ground well into mid January. Every other snowstorm we've had since then had been followed up by warm weather, so it always melts within a few days (or hours).......

We got a dusting of snow here in Houston last night.

It was the first snow since Christmas Eve in 2004 and tied the record for the earliest snowfall of the season.

In 1944 and 2008 it snowed here on December 10.

Lake effect snow is not always powdery. In Michigan we often got very heavy wet snow as lake effect. It is even possible to get lake effect rain.
