Chosen in a vote by the members of the GC as our favorite Christmas music ever. One member downloaded/uploaded the songs from the list and created CDs for those who wanted them. Mine is well used, but also loaded into iTunes and my iPod.

You may have quibbles about some of the tunes, but admit it. These are the popular songs and the versions that you think of first when you want Christmas music on the radio.

I gag when I hear Madonna's version of "Santa Baby".

Wow! I don't have Sleigh Ride on mine. Instead, I have two tracks of Mary's Boy Child (which, if I recall correctly, I was instrumental in lobbying for. I think I was also one of the people pushing for the Hallelujah Chorus.)

It's a great album, but I can't seem to find mine!

We are putting up the tree tonight -- it's been in a bucket of water in the garage since Monday. It was supposed to go up either Wednesday or Thursday but we are behind schedule at Casa Boonie/Melly.

We were supposed to get the tree on Sunday at a tree farm. We get there with friends at 9 a.m. to find that the tree farm doesn't open until noon.

The friends went back on Monday. On Monday, we went to the local volunteer fire house and got a lovely Douglas fir.

S'funny, I was thinking of polling the board for a thread on "Name your 5 favorite Christmas records." Guess that's sort of happened- but I must say, my 5 favorites aren't on the list (probably because several of them hadn't been recorded when Jipter Christmas was released):

I agree with the two Sarah McLaughlin songs. Not sure I've ever heard the other three.

I'll put in Carol of the Bells - Mannheim Steamroller. Can't come up with two other big favorites of recent vintage. There's always Alvin's Christmas on the humor side, or Stan Freberg's Green Christmas (not really a song), and Allan Sherman's Twelve Days of Christmas.
