Maybe one of the California Bored lawyers can answer this...
about that 16-year-old who was allegedly tortured and kept by a couple in Tracy, CA. One of the counts against them is "aggravated mayhem". Just what is aggravated mayhem, and how is that different from everyday, ordinary mayhem?

I have to wonder when the last time someone was charged with simple mayhem rather than aggravated.
