Lyrically Speaking Day 19 - 12/5/08

#1 Post by KillerTomato » Fri Dec 05, 2008 5:18 am

Wednesday's and Thursday's games are open until noon Eastern today.

Today's game has no theme, really. It's just chock full of songs I really wanted to use this cycle. Some because I just like the song, some because the artists are particular favorites of mine, some because the songs are pretty funny and I love funny rock and roll. One point for each title and artist, as usual. This one's open until tomorrow at noon.

1. The rivers are full of crocodile nasties
And He who made kittens put snakes in the grass
He's a lover of life, but a player of pawns
Yes, the King on His sunset lies waiting for dawn

2. Christopher Robin and I walked along
Under branches lit up by the moon
Posing our questions to Owl and Eeyore
As our days disappeared all too soon

3. I'm not running from, no,
I think you got me all wrong
I don't regret this life I chose for me
But these places and these faces are getting old

4. She said, "I don't believe you're tryin' to find no job."
Said, "I seen you today you was standin' on a corner, leanin' up against a post"
I said, "But I'm tired, I've been walkin' all day."
She said, "That don't confront me, long as I get my money next Friday"
Now next Friday come, I didn't have the rent....and out the door I went.

5. If you should ever leave me
Though life would still go on, believe me
The world could show nothing to me
So what good would living do me?

6. Last night, I dreamt of flying
Over hillsides in the snow
And I dove down through the clouds
To the valley there below

7. They say you better listen to the voice of reason
But they don't give you any choice, 'cause they think that it's treason
So you had better do as you are told

8. See the young man sittin' in the old man's bar
Waitin' for his time to die

9. You won't need a cab to find a priest
Maybe you should find a place to stay
Some place where they never change the sheets

10. When I was a child, I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain, you would not understand
That is not how I am

11. So give your ID card to the border guard
Yeah, your alias says you're Captain Jean-Luc Picard
Of the United Federation of Planets
'Cause he won't speak English anyway

12. I'll do as I'll decide and let it ride until I've died
And only then shall I abide this tide
Of catchy little tunes, of hip three-minute ditties
I wanna bust all your balloons, I wanna burn all of your cities

13. There is trouble in the forest
And the creatures all have fled
As the maples scream, "Oppression!"
And the oaks just shake their heads

14. (Wake me up) Wake me up inside
(Can't wake up) Wake me up inside
(Save me) Call my name and save me from the dark

15. I said, "Slow, slow, don't go so fast
Don't you think that love can last?"
She said, "Love? Lord above
Now you're tryin' to trick me in love"
There is something wrong in a government where they who do the most have the least. There is something wrong when honesty wears a rag, and rascality a robe; when the loving, the tender, eat a crust while the infamous sit at banquets.
