Multiple outlets are reporting that Caroline Kennedy has expressed interest in being appointed to the Senate seat soon to be vacated by Hillary Clinton. I haven't done the math myself, but I think it's the same seat that her late uncle once held. --Bob

I saw this earlier in the day and assumed it was about Ted. I skipped over the thread. I then went to aol and saw the story about Caroline and didn't remember there was a post here about it.

I get a wee bit annoyed when another posts about something that has already been posted.

This would make me mad.

I'm a big fan of Andrew Cuomo as someone who has done plenty in his own right and not relying on his name. I trust him to do what's best for the state of New York because he's been working for us for years now.

I have no doubt that Caroline is a smart, well-educated attorney. New York's got plenty of those. She also has little to no government experience and if the rumors are correct, she wasn't asked about the job she called to ask for it. Sounds like a power grab that is reliant on her last name to me.

It has been suggested that Governor Paterson would name CK to the Senate, with the proviso that she not run for the seat in 2010.

The logic being that Paterson doesn't need to tick anyone off by choosing a "permanent" Senator (there will be 2 elections for this seat over the next 4 years) in the midst of a huge wrangle with the state legislature over cutting spending, and the people of New York would be better served by a good, old-fashioned primary and election event two years hence.
