At least I didn't put a winking smiley in it.

I'm just being chatty.
You made me laugh. The winking smiley probably would not have produced that reaction.

chatty boy
At first I had the  on it, but decided the :P was more appropriate.

You can tell him MAC is makeup and Mac is a computer, and you'll be even.

If you like that tit-for-tat stuff......

Hands down, the best book to be turned into the worst movie ever.
I haven't read Battlefield Earth, but I'd nominate Starship Trooper for that award!
I haven't read BE either, but I'd certainly go along with ST being the worst book-to-movie adaptation ever.
Wow. I haven't read ST since childhood, but I really liked the movie.

According to mcdonalds.com, the answer is 540, of which 260 come from fat.

You liked it?

As a serious adaptation of the book or as a campy farce in the style of 50's B movies? :?

Yes, I liked it. I hardly remember the book at all. Mostly as a campy farce.

Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

And I can't find a picture, but for a about a week in 1999, there was a "Little Mac Land" at Busch Stadium, combining the popularity of Big Mac Land (Which for some reason still exists despite the fact that its namesake has long since retired and been disgraced) and the huge popularity Joe McEwing enjoyed during his rookie year in St. Louis.....

For a brief time there was - it was a single beef patty and a regular sesame-seed bun (rather than the three-layer bun for the Big Mac), with lettuce, pickles, onions, cheese and the special sauce.
