They do clarify a question we had about the clock, though.

The game clock will begin when the last answer choice is displayed on the Contestant�s monitor. The Contestant cannot answer a question until the game clock begins. Answers will only be accepted when the game clock is running.

So interrupting Meredith while she's reading the choices (and running down the clock) is officially permitted.

Are they displayed on the contestant's monitor as Meredith is reading the question? If so, I'd say this specifically means that they can interrupt her if the clock is running while she's yapping.

But the biggest reason TPTB have for saying that it's a "good idea" not to is that might lead to highlighting what a bad idea it was to start the clock while Meredith was reading the answers. What would be harm of doing it as they had been doing it for years at Play It, where the clock started when the fourth answer was revealed?

When I watched a taping last month, I was able to see the contestant's console. All four answers were revealed simultaneously as Meredith started to read, and that was when the clock started. --Bob

Potential Contestants are eligible to be selected as Contestants during the then current production year and the following two production years. Potential Contestants will be removed from the Contestant Pool if they have not been selected as a Contestant by the end of the second production year following the production year during which the Potential Contestant auditioned.

I believe that this specification of the policy is new. The policy itself, of course, is not. Production years last (according to the Rules) from June through December. --Bob
