Happy Birthday!
Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

May your birthday be happy, and may your present be a call from WWTBAM or Jeopardy!

Re: Happy Birthday Kazoo!
Thanks!
I got the "Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?" computer game. Yes, Marley-there is such a game. I've answered the million dollar question once (the subject was world geography-they asked what country Tripoli is the capital of-very easy!) Jeff Foxworthy's voice can be heard on it-he wisecracks just like on the TV show. If you know a 5th Grader fan, this would be a good holiday gift idea.
The family celebration will be on the 14th (both my brother and I were born in December). We are going out to eat at a local restaurant.
As for the weather-it was sunny today, but more snow is predicted for tomorrow night & Thursday-up to 5 inches' worth. We didn't get as much as they said we were going to the other night-it went north of us-Grand Rapids got the majority of the heavy snowfall. Oh well. it's December and we're supposed to have snow. I bet we'll have a white Christmas!

Does Jeff Foxworthy drag everything out like he does on the TV show?Kazoo65 wrote: I got the "Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?" computer game. Yes, Marley-there is such a game.

Re: Happy Birthday Kazoo!
I can get through a game of 5th Grader in less than 10 minutes. Foxworthy doesn't drag out things like he does on TV-in fact, he yells at you if you're too SLOW. I think he should do that to the people on TV. Tonight I got this for a $1M question-World History was the category. "Swaziland got it's independence from what European country?" It mentioned the year (sometime in the 60's) but I don't remember what it was. I wrote down France-you have to write down the answer for the $1M question-they don't give you choices like they do for the other 10-and was wrong. I studied Swaziland in 7th grade and I don't remember learning who once ruled them!
P.S. I don't like sharing a birthday with Britney Spears (who was on the Rockefeller Center tree lighting special-at least she didn't sing)

That's certainly not a computer game of 5th Grader, then!
