SEVEN CLUES
Several of our newer posters have expressed curiosity about Seven Clues. I think we've played something like three games in the past five years, and yet we still continue to talk about it.
To satisfy their curiosity, and possibly to offer a small diversion for some of the regular players from a while back, I will host three or four games today starting at 2:00 P.M. CENTRAL TIME.
Seven Clues isn't like some of the other games, where one game's winner hosts the next, since some advance preparation is required. Today's games will mostly feature some classics, so regulars who recognize a game are encouraged to let our newer posts have first chance.

What is Seven Clues?
Seven Clues is a game I stole from Dell Crossword Specials. The idea was to start off with a category, then start with general and gradually more specific clues, until by Clue 7, the answer would be obvious. We fairly quickly ditched the category part, as the Dell Seven Clues were way too easy for y'all.
For example, the very first Bored Seven Clues game:
Category: Transportation
Clue 1: Waterway
Clue 2: In operation since ____ (don't remember)
Clue 3: Canada
Tribe got it on Clue 1 or 2 -- the St. Lawrence Seaway. Now we just start with Clue 1, but I would never start with such a specific clue as "waterway." Y'all are just too good for that.
Most of the hosting was done by Ritterskoop, DrJ, and me. MsPeacock also hosted some, as did PSM and hubby toward the end of the run.
I''m happy to say that Skoop and I started to develop some kind of eerie mind meld toward the end, as did one of the other players with DrJ. The clue was "historical figure," and Skoop's guess was William Penn, whch was correct. DrJ posted a first clue of Sports, and somebody guessed "Manchester United." Again, correct.
I think you'll enjoy it.

I think LB won't be horrified at this version.
FYI -- LB had an extreme dislike for Seven Clues in its earlier incarnation. In this version, each Seven Clues game has its own thread, making for a much tidier Bored, so I think impact won't be horrific.

Re: SEVEN CLUES
SEVEN CLUES RULES
1. Keep all guesses, remarks, chitchat, etc. IN the GAME THREAD. ONE thread per game.
2. NO GOOGLING
3. NO outside sources of any kind. If you think the answer is something from the CD you have playing, turn it off. (Kidding!)
4. ONE guess per clue.
5. FIRST correct guesser wins.
6. There will be approximately a three-minute break between games, approximately a one-minute break between clues.
7. No googling, no outside sources of any kind.

Don't worry about not sticking around, Kay -- this will mostly be a sample to satisfy the curiosity of new folkses who have asked about it. Although if you did, it would probably be a great way to pester LB.

The Skins game that Baby Boy is playing in will be off the air at 3:30, so I will have my attention split for the first 30 minutes.
