Number One Son news

#1 Post by hermillion » Fri Nov 28, 2008 9:26 pm

#1 Son left on Oct. 13 for Air Force basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio.

This is graduation week, and I am here for the festivities. If anyone can be said to have actually enjoyed basic training -- he's the one! On Wednesday all of the Trainees received their Airman's Coin, signifying the end of BMT. Then 50 or so of the 738 graduates moved on to receive recognition as Honor Graduates, and my boy was among them! However, the best was yet to come. He was then announced as the recipient of the First Airman Award, placing him #1 in his entire graduating class! Tears commenced.

As of 0001 hours on Monday, he moves on to Avionics training at Keesler AFB in Gulfport/Biloxi, MS.

I'm so proud I can't stand it!

Wonderful news -- and not one bit surprising. We already knew he was #1.

Here's the kid, and all the honchos, at the awarding.

My favorite star in the East will always be Regis Philbin.

I'm a #2 son. Maybe we could work out a deal.

Congratulations to you and your son! What an awesome accomplishment. And, as a member of the armed forces, something he's doing on behalf of all of us. Thank you.

Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.
