The double negativity in that question would have made my head hurt. "Which of these is not" then "none of the above"?? I guess that means none of the above are not - but couldn't it also mean that all of the above are not?

I know I'm overthinking, but in which direction? I don't know if I could've comprehended that in 30 seconds.

(And on an unrelated note, why does "Could've" provoke spell check. Isn't could've the contraction for "could have?")

Now my head does hurt.

I had banked six questions and got five of them correct. I am amazed that I am on the first page after missing five questions this month.

One of the questions I missed this month was an "all of the above" answer. The problem was that I read the question and the first answer I saw was correct and I hit the button without reading the others which correct as well.
I believe in the usefulness of useless information.

While this is a wasted month for me anyway, l was annoyed by my question today. It was probably the biggest gimme I've seen in 3 months, but the question was so obtusely worded, it took me over 10 seconds to make sense of it.

I hate to correct anything that makes me look as smart as that message does, somehow an extra 10,000 pts got added to my score.

I think I got a new personal record on tonight's question -- I was right, but 97.5% of everyone else was also right. It only took me 8.26 seconds. It was such an odd question that I had to read it a few times:

Which is correct? "They ______ down the lane."

runs
runned
walked
ranned
walks

Yeah, I'm a little slow. I walks, while the Sploofus leaders all runs.

I missed 4-5 at the beginning of the month and have been returning to the front page since then, but today's Q got me:

In the original theme to "Gilligan's Island", which two characters were not named or described, simply being referred to as "and the rest"?

I never heard the original theme, and missed it.

The Professor and Mary Ann!

Wish I had gotten that Q this morning instead of a movie one I had no idea on.....

This was after school "must watch" for my younger brother and me for years. I even know the name of the band!

They really meant "original" didn't they? The second year they named the Professor and Mary Ann. Ball buster question.

I should have chosen that answer because it's at least presented that way in the (newer) lyrics.

I picked Mrs. Howell and the Professor, assuming they were the least interesting characters.

Did November get an extra day?
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

I just won 19,000 points on a Sploofus showdown! Somebody named Sanddune, and I don't think that's anybody who posts here.

So will that help me in OCD's rankings?

No. It will lift you in the overall standings, though.
