Forgot about that. :(

Let's re-phrase -- most people will claim their own moms as the best cooks in the world.
-- In Iroquois society, leaders are encouraged to remember seven generations in the past and consider seven generations in the future when making decisions that affect the people.
-- America would be a better place if leaders would do more long-term thinking. -- Wilma Mankiller

By the way my mother called me yesterday and told me that she finished the Operation Santa stuff on Monday.

I said, gee Mom, you could have come down here for Thanksgiving.

My uncle and his girlfriend are not going away, but they told my mom they didn't want Turkey, so they are having Pizza for Thanksgiving.

My dad was the cook in our family. He was a very good one, though.

hey hows "things"??
They are ok now, but an hour ago, my washing machine broke and I had to fix it. I was trying to get my linens washed.
Detail your Thanksgiving Preparations!!
I went to many stores for many things. I got an "Eat" box at Sprinkles, Chocolate Satin Pie (for Jeff) and Marie Callendars and many types of Cheeses at Bristol Farms. I am supposed to be making labels for my cheese right now, but I am not. (Anyone who has been to my house knows how OCD I get about the cheese.)

We are having Turkey, potatoes, green beens, carrots, poppy seed rolls, cranberries, cupcakes, pies and cheese.

Are you doing all that yourself, or are you in control of minions?!?!?
I have minions. Jeff and I work well together, the kids will be helping tomorrow. My monster-in-law, who has been really nice lately, invited herself over to help, but I should have things under control by the time she arrives.

There is one foolproof method of turkey prepartaion that WILL GUARANTEE YINS A MOIST AND SUCCULENT BIRD!!!

Good gravy is not a given. You'll do fine because you are prepared.
My mom made the best gravy in the known and unknown universe. Do not anyone try to dispute this -- everyone's own mom is the greatest cook ever.

But my mom really was.
I love who she is for you.

I love how she is honored everytime you speak of her.

Briners!

If you are using the metal stock pot to brine your bird (rather than roasting bag or other large non-metal container), make sure it is stainless steel or has a ceramic coating. There may be a few other pot choices too, I'm not sure. You could have a nasty chemical reaction if you use other types of metal.

Not that I've ever experienced said nasty chemical reaction or anything......
