Would you pay $100

#1 Post by christie1111 » Tue Nov 25, 2008 8:51 am

for a one in 500 chance for a Smart Car?

There is a raffle going on at a local charity.

I forgot to ask them if $100 was a donation to the charity which would then be tax deductable.

I was a bit tempted.

I probably wouldn't, but then again, if it weren't for bad luck I'd have
no luck at all. $10 is a different story. $100 is a lot of money!

I believe raffle tickets are not tax deductible, no matter where the money goes. One of our accountant BBs, please correct me if I'm wrong.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

It depends on what charity it is.

If it was a charity I really like than I prolly would buy a ticket.

They did something like this with a limousine as a prize about 20 years ago. They drew numbers all night and the last ticket pulled won the prize, so as the night wore on people were bidding on the remaining tickets, and it was like Deal or No Deal. My friends hung on to their ticket and ended up winning. They sold the limo and bought an after-hours club and probably lost everything in the end. But we were all under 30 and single and that's the kind of thing that was done....

I might - I would probably if it was a charity I supported.

I wouldn't mind having a smart car - what with sploofus and football and golf being so stoopid.

If I liked the charity, sure. I don't think you'd have any problem selling it if the car is impractical for you - in fact, I think I heard there is a waiting list for those wanting one.

If you could get the car to answer your Sploofus questions, you'd be golden!

Indeed I would, if it's a cause I support anyway. I would buy the ticket if it benefited the local chapter of the American Red Cross or the American Cancer Society. SteelersFan would buy it if it supported Ducks, Elk, or Trout Unlimited.

What about Squirrels Unlimited......?
Squirrels are the architects of forests, the planters of trees, nature's own acrobats and show a zest for life that can inspire us. Every day should be National Squirrel Appreciation Day!

Many of these (squirrel) migrations were probably caused by food shortages as well as habitat overcrowding. We solved that for them. We not only reduced their habitat, we reduced the whole species by about 90%. The least we can do now is share a little birdseed with them.

Squirrels are already unlimited! They're everywhere!

Yesterday on my way to work i saw a squirrel sitting by the road just staring at a guardrail post. I figure he was trying for a personal injury suit. No photo, too much traffic.

I hear that squirrels taste just like chicken.

Add enough rosemary and garlic, and who knows . . .

I wonder if Beast's attorney represents squirrels...... (hint, hint!)

Ahem. Did we or did we not just discuss the fact that an army was going to be trooping through my house tonight and tomorrow and sleeping in this very room? Hello!

I had planned an early attempt at Merriment, but it looks as though I won't be able to get in the room! AGGHH!!!!
