Re: PSM..
My coat came from the Venetian Glam collection. It has a detachable fur collar and cuffs and is long. I've been using the same leather jacket for six years and I figured that it was time for a change.

What color coat did you get? Sounds like a very nice one. I like the fact
you can change it a little bit.

If you make stuffing, may I recommend Mrs. Cubbisons brand, the Herb Seasoned variety; it's very tasty. Instead of adding just onion and celery, I refigure it to include equal amounts of chopped onion, diced celery, and minced carrots. Carrot is kind of unusual, but I like it cuz it adds a bit of extra taste, color, and crunch. I also add extra sage, but otherwise no extra seasoning is needed. I use chicken broth for the liquid requirement.kayrharris wrote:Yep, Alton Brown cooks his that way. to brine the turkey. She does and everything I've read said it really make it moist.
And then... there's the gravy. But you're probably used to making gravy from southern chicken dishes? I like to add fresh mushroom slices when it's simmering.
I'll need to check out this brining tip. I usually stick pieces of butter under the skin; maybe I'll try the rosemary and garlic this year.

Your dressing sounds fabulous. The brining is quite popular these days and really easy...just have to plan
ahead the night before you bake it. The one I saw was Alton Brown's - he uses kosher salt and brown
sugar in his.

Kay:
Slow turkey cooking. Give it lots of hours. Give it lots of basting. Alton Brown usually will not screw you up. Though I don't get cable & have never followed him, my sister has, so I've tasted his recommendations.
If the turkey is done ahead of time, you can always keep it hot enough to eat at a low temp, whereas if it isn't done, waiting is just no fun.
Stuff with whatever your heart tells you to. I make my own (lots of onions, carrots, celery, orange juice, walnuts), my sister does a different very exotic gourmet recipe each year, its all good.

Re: PSM..
This is the best advice. My inlaws are coming for Thanksgiving. I was really nervous at first. My mother in law and I have trouble sometimes and my father in law is a redneck pig. But on the bright side they want to come spend time with the girls and that is a great thing.peacock2121 wrote:1. stop calling them difficultkayrharris wrote:Five constructive ways to deal with your most difficult relatives

If I keep looking at them as being difficult then I will never get to where I can enjoy them and just appreciate them for who they are. They are geting up there and so we might not have many more holidays.
Since we are in a much bigger house this year I invited both my parents and inlaws. My parents said they would rather stay home. My mom wanted us to come to them and she's pouting. What-ev-er. My inlaws gladly accepted our invitation. I think that speaks volumes about my parents vs. my inlaws.
