I see that Squirrel of the Year Nominee Evil Squirrel actually mentioned it first with a special birthday gift for Mr. WG

Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

ES took the time to put everyone's birthdays into the Bored's database so they pop up on the Index page on their special day (Though there are a couple interfaces where the birthdays don't show, which puzzles me)....
Of course, not many people ever go to the index page.....

Re: Happy birthday, wintergreen!
Well,
Thanks y'all, it was a very nice day. I spent most of it working on Baby Nicholas' Eagle Project, building a walkway for the Little Sisters of the Poor (he is following in the footsteps of the Wonder Child, who became an Eagle Scout 6 years ago; that project involved building and landscaping a fence for an elementary school, to keep the little kids from running out into the street), and then we celebrated my advancing age, with two-thirds of the Young Ones (Awesome Andrew is at college and phoned in; we'll see him on Thursday) and A Very Special Lady, so it was a great day.
And special, um, thanks to the Evil Squirrel for the... thing... that popped up on the other thread, which fortunately did not include any HK porn. I am sure that I will, um, treasure it always.

Innocent, naive and whimsical. And somewhat footloose and fancy-free.
