Ten Straight Wins!

#1 Post by lilclyde54 » Sat Nov 22, 2008 1:11 pm

The high school I do the football public address for won in the state playoff quarter-finals last night 27-3. That makes our tenth straight win. Now we get to play our old and familiar nemesis Oak Grove next week for the 5A South State Championship. If you remember, the authors of the book Y'all vs Us included the Meridian/Oak Grove rivalry in their book detailing fifteen of the best high school football rivalries in Mississippi. It looks like we will get to add another chapter to our story next Friday night.

The good news is that I get to do the announcing since we are the higher seed and get to play at home.

The bad news is that I will have to miss the Egg Bowl for the second consecutive year due to both games being played on the same day. (the Friday after Thanksgiving)

It will be an exciting week in Wildcat country, especially since the rivalry got a little boost when we played them earlier in the regular season (we won :D ) and they filed a complaint with the activities association for our cheerleaders being too exuberant. They will see a new level of Exuberance when they hit Ray Stadium next Friday night.

Our HS football team is playing for a berth in the NY State championship game next weekend. Today, they are in Kingston. It's gonna be cold!

Meanwhile, there is another team striving to have Ten Straight Wins.

Ole Miss sure shocked LSU yesterday. Looks like they were in control
of the game the entire time - and playing in Death Valley!

Yeah Kay, we certainly gave one of our better performances of the year. My younger brother was there at Death Valley and he is ticked at me for not going with him. He even had a fraternity brother of mine who currently lives in East TX call me and try to convince me to meet them. I couldn't make it but I did what I could to get our karma going. I went back to the same sports bar that I watched us beat Florida in and secured the exact same chair to watch the LSU game from. So far that chair and my lucky red socks are undefeated. :P I guess I'll have to watch the Egg Bowl there Friday afternoon before going to the stadium to do the Wildcat game that night.

Would you do me a favor and sit in that same chair on Saturday for the Auburn/Alabama
game? Thanks! :D

I'll third it.

Since SC's OK team beat TexasTech, the next thing would be for Auburn to win. And it woul make Kay happy.

Unfortunately, Judy has another reason for rooting for Auburn. A loss
by Alabama will definitely help out OU.

That would be a pleasure Kay. There is only one team on the planet that I actively root against in every sport and on every day. Y'all are playing them.
