Hurricane squirrels are back in Texas
I am pleased to report -- and Annie is relieved -- that 144 gray squirrels made homeless by Hurricane Ike have been raised, healed, and/or rehabilitated at a wildlife rescue agency near my home, transported back to Texas, and released two weeks ago. Most of them were babies, which meant that much bottle-feeding was required around the clock, according to the agency's director.

How could they tell the squirrels were from Texas? They can't make the "Hook 'em Horns" sign with those little claws.

Why is it that, after their phone call from you, 145 squirrels were returned to TX?

Many of these (squirrel) migrations were probably caused by food shortages as well as habitat overcrowding. We solved that for them. We not only reduced their habitat, we reduced the whole species by about 90%. The least we can do now is share a little birdseed with them.

Just remember you gotta take I35E to get on I45 to get to The Woodlands. I35W is nothing but squirrel trouble.

And that Dallas/Fort Worth area is a LOT farther from Gulf storms and probably more conducive to a nice, pleasant, calm sojourn for the winter. Plus, they surely don't have as many feral hogs, bobcats and alligators as we do to slow your foraging down. Less squishing possibilities.
Really. We're very boring down here. Stick further north.

Does this mean ES's cousins will be getting a nice write-up from Annie's mom!?
He hopes you spell his name correctly....

The cousins were mentioned. Alas, because I am reined by tight restrictions on word count, I did not have space to detail Evil Squirrel's personal educational outreach and developmental counseling to the furry little Texans.littlebeast13 wrote:
