Regardless of your political bent, you just have to wonder about something here...

And yes, I know it's not limited to this particular coin, but...

Ten bucks for a $1 coin? A 900% markup just for some paint?
There is something wrong in a government where they who do the most have the least. There is something wrong when honesty wears a rag, and rascality a robe; when the loving, the tender, eat a crust while the infamous sit at banquets.

Well it's gold plated too! Plus you get a bonus coin!

How much is the S+H though? $19.95?

I'll bet they'll sell about 300,000.

Aren't they all numbered "1"?

Just to point out the obvious, the "New England Mint" is not a branch of the U.S. Mint and overprinting something on a different presidential dollar does not make it an official mint issue.

GW and I saw this advertised on TV the other day. She turned to me and said "Who buys this crap? Do they really think it will be valuable one day?" My answers were "I don't know, and, sad to say, yes, some people do." Probably the same folks who answer those Nigerian e-mails.

Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Some around these parts probably think the political button should be on the other end ...

I wonder how many people are going to get suckered into buying these coins.

I just bought 10,000 of them... which I can do because I have that kind of money. Then in 50 years, when gold prices are $100,000/ounce, I'll sell them all and make at least $10 billion.

Top that, Obscenely Rich Bastard!

The Obama suit, made by the noted Bosnian clothing manufacturer, Borac (not Borat), and already a big seller, not just in Bosnia but in Croatia and Slovenia as well.

I couldn't find a picture of the suit anywhere.

The image is cut off, but that looks like an Obama 50 cent piece in the bottom right corner.
