My first black and white ball!

#1 Post by sunflower » Tue Nov 11, 2008 3:01 pm

On Saturday, I will be attending a black and white ball/gala. I am super excited. It probably won't be anything special but now at least I'll be able to say I went to a gala at least once in my life.

But the really exciting part...I get to go shopping for a new dress and NEW SHOES!!

I once wished for a gala day, but I've scaled back my expectations.

Well, at least this one didn't go flying over my head... :D

I was considering finery for commencement, but it will be under the gown so there's not much point.

There will be a lunch or dinner party, though, so if anyone's in the neighborhood Dec. 20, let me know.

Sunflower, please post pictures of whatever you buy. It makes us feel connected.

Are you getting a full length ball gown?

I am looking for a full length gown...but not sure if I will find one I like by Saturday! I have found a lot of shorter cocktail dresses that I can resort to that will work well enough, but I would prefer full length.

I actually got trapped in the mall tonight after closing...and didn't even find a dress to make the whole fiasco worthwhile!!!

Yes I did...I didn't make it to all the stores though, I will have to go back tomorrow. I haven't been to Nordstrom yet...but that particular Nordstrom tends to have a not that great special occasion dress section. They'll have good shoes though!

Very cute! I went to Macy's though...that was my first stop, I combed the dress section and didn't see that one. There were very few dresses in my size, I don't know if people got an early start on holiday party shopping but it seemed odd the section was so picked over at this time of year.

PERFECT! I hope they have this at my store, we only have one Nordstrom in the state. I love halter dresses, that is pretty much what I had in my mind. And not a bad deal either!!!

I liked the strapless one too but strapless dresses and I don't get along very well.

I also need to go to White House Black Market, which is usually my go to store for dresses, although their online selection is not that great at all. It's super close to my house though so it's worth a quick trip to see if they have anything in stock.

But I want that one, it's so pretty!

The shoes are going to be my downfall...I have expensive taste! Why do I gravitate toward the ones that are over $200??
