I took my friend to chemotherapy today.

#1 Post by PlacentiaSoccerMom » Tue Nov 11, 2008 11:09 pm

I took my friend to chemotherapy today. There were 20 spots for people to receive their infusions and sadly, they were all full. The center has recliners and individual TVs. I bought a bunch of trashy magazines for us to read while the medicine was doing its magic. She slept for part of the experience, but everything went according to schedule.

It's a humbling experience, isn't it? I thank God for good health
every time I take my friend Carmen. You're a good friend. :)

It is humbling. I saw people there of all ages, young adults to this wonderfully dressed old lady. She was wearing a beautiful suit and large brimmed hat. Her walking stick had a silver top on the end. My friend said that the lady wears a different beautiful hat each week.

There is a dog that comes in to visit with the patients. She mixed breed dog who took obedience courses with her owner. (I can't remember the dog's name.) The dog had her own volunteer ID badge, it was very cute. When my friend is done with her chemo and radiation, she wants to bring her dog in and do a similar type of volunteer work.

You are a very good friend.

It's sad that there are so many people in similar situations, and with that full room, there are full rooms all over the country. I really feel for those people and am reminded to be thankful for the things that I have and hope that if I am ever in that situation myself, that I have a friend as good as you or Kay to be a trooper and go with me for treatment.
