I Remembered to Watch BAM Today (Spoilered)

#1 Post by WheresFanny » Tue Nov 11, 2008 10:31 am

Don't make me cry, woman!
Aloha, Meisha!

As soon as the Spicoli question came up, I said "learning about Cuba and having some food!" (out loud, because I'm a dork like that). And I was way too tickled when you said the same thing a second later.

Other important intellectual observations: You have the most gorgeous dimples I've ever seen! (and your mom's not too shabby, either. Ha!)

Although I didn't actually cry, you did make me mist up and have to employ the hand waving in front of the face thing.

And I'm glad that your 500K question was one that was a NAFC type, so you weren't tempted to go for it. Although I'm sure somebody will say that they knew it because of McLean, Va. Well, yeah, after they reveal the answer.

And yay! for Bob for managing to eliminate a couple for your Double Dip, which was obviously the smartest strategy there.

I also forgive you for not telling me anything last night. Ha!
We, the HK Brigade, do hereby salute you, Marley, for your steadfast devotion to ontopicosity. Well done, sir!

LOL, Fanny! I was onew of those that said "McLean" for exactly that reason (plus I know that we covered that fact in high school, so maybe that memory surfaced), but I never would have seen the question, unless my PAF could Google the answer to the Moon question. I would not have risked a 2 out of 4 guess, unless my PAF was much more convincing.

Awesome job, Meisha! I was worried when you ATA on the Golden Girls, but then you rocked the stack!

I watched as I exercised at the gym. Even with the sound off, you did a superb job.

First off, you proved something Regis said a long time ago: "The game's a lot easier if you know the answers."

Then, you had the guts to go with an answer, even if you didn't recall how you knew the answer.

Your use of Bob and then the DD was exemplary. A kudo to Bob for giving you as much info as he could.

Heartiest congratulations.
I am about 25% sure of this.

Am I to assume that NAFC means "Not a ******* Clue"?

I'm glad to hear I was unconvincing. I've posted in the main Transcript thread -- I wasn't at all confident of the two answers I was ruling out. --Bob

Actually, Bob, I thought you were convincing enough when you said to rule out two choices. That gave Brianne enough to go with the DD for the right answer.

Obviously, you were convincing enough for Meisha, and that is what counts. However, I thought that you sounded pretty sure on the first one that you discounted, and then really did not explain why you discounted the second one. If you were my PAF, I would have asked why you were eliminating those answers. Also, you need to remember that I am very risk-averse at this level, as my own show performance demonstrated.

Sheerly the loudness of the bells going off in my head. To this day I am not certain how I knew as much as I did. The likely answer is that I've read enough science fiction that one or more of my books were set in or referenced the various areas.

Checking the map afterward (which I did), the Ocean of Storms is a very prominent feature on the Moon. The Sea of Nectar -- not so much. --Bob

So, you didn't try to google at the time?

See the Transcript thread for the long explanation. The short answer is that I did not. --Bob

I'm amazed that you were able to be so collected under the circumstances you describe, Bob! It sounded like you were calmly ruling out what you could by Google (not that it sounded like you were Googling, just because that's what we expect of a PAF if they possibly can).

Was I meisha, I would have totally thought you'd found those two by Google and been perfectly confident in using the Double Dip. And then had an attack of the vapours when I talked to you afterward!
