There's Something You Don't See Everyday....

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Thu Nov 06, 2008 9:02 am

There is a single guy walking a picket line right across the street from me! Apparently the chemical plant is using non-approved workers for whatever it is they've been doing over there all week. I guess they wouldn't let him walk down in front of the main gate, so he picked the one right in front of me.... which is bolted shut.....

If he's still there when I go to lunch, I'll see if I can read what his sign says.....

It's prolly Deputy_Barney_Fife, and the placard reads "Unfair to Merry Men!"

It's from a kids' book. Protesters are helping to free Mrs. Carillon and one of the signs still had words from the Grape Workers' protest on it.

The Mysterious Disappearance of Leon (I Mean Noel). Ellen Raskin. Great book.

What kind of non-approved workers? I guess there would be more picketers if it was a union thing.

There was a guy who used to picket with a big sign in the bed of his truck near some new shops in Bethlehem. It said we should boycott them because it was built with illegal alien labor. We just started calling the place The Boycott Shops and kept going there. They had a nice boutique-y grocer. My yen for good sheep's milk cheese trumped his call for boycott, I guess.

That's funny. You should go bring him a coffee or something, poor guy is probably lonely. How can you take a lone picketer seriously??

I went to get my glasses so I could read the sign without actually going out in the street, but I guess he's back in his truck now since I don't see him anywhere and the truck is still parked in front of my house (but obscured bu a tree)....

Or, even better, take him a hernia jug of Pepsi, but make sure the public bathrooms in the neighborhood are locked.

Mini will tell you I don't have any coffee in this place. Best i could do is bring him a bottle of Pepsi....

And it would be warm, but then again, it's supposed to start getting really cold later on today....

So when the poor guy has to go, Serial Killer Beast With the Middle Name Wayne has a new victim! Fantastic trap there, bud!

Now it's started raining, so I doubt he'll be coming out of the truck, but it doesn't look like he's gonna leave.....

I just went out to get the mail, and he's still nowhere to be seen. Can't tell if he's in the truck or not, but one of the neighbors is out on the porch watching. If the one a few houses the other ways hobbles over here and starts chatting him up, that guy's gonna really regret it.....

But then you could ask him what the sign said after the Weird Neighbor disposes of the body....
