Wells Fargo just announced that they're issuing $10,000,000,000 additional stock. Their current stock should plunge overnight and tomorrow.
I said they were overreaching acquiring Wachovia.

Christie, my advice is to just let it work itself out. I know you have avoided most of the political threads, so you may not be aware that many malignant things have been said on all sides, but the worst have come from people who have presented an unrelenting attitude of arrogant superiority. Blood pressures have risen. Not all of them will go down right away, because it now has become about more than politics.

Here is the press release that Wells farge issued on October 3rd when they agreed to the merger

In the 4th paragraph they announced publicly to anyone willing to take the time to read and understand that they would issue $20 billion of securities to bolster their capital to conclude the acquisition. Today's release clearly states this is $10 billion of that $20 billion.

christie111, you are correct, I did take a cheap shot. I shouldn't have, the mature thing would have been to commiserate with him at best, or at worst, just kept my mouth (ok fingers) shut. Unfortunately, I can't undo it.
But I do not apologize to BobJ. for it. He felt free to mock/ridicule the right/big business during the very recent political silly season as well as pontificate ad neausum (sp?) to the point of distraction, so I find no sympathy for him when he runs afoul of that same big business doing it's thing.
Let his chosen one save him. Proof in the pudding and all that.
However, for bobj to cry foul when his company let him go is hypocritical. He was more than happy to be hired by them. Firing can happen to anyone who isn't the owner and everyone who works knows it can happen.
Should the company have kept him on if his skills are no longer useful or contributing to the company's profit margin at the rate desired?
Does the company have no responsibility to its shareholders to cut costs when able and boost profits? Which is it to be?

You haven't been following things. I was (technically still am) employed by Citigroup who made a deal with Wachovia. If they hadn't the FDIC would have taken them over the next day. Less than a week later Wells Fargo announced that, no, they were taking over Wachovia. That was brokered by the head of the FDIC. Citi was backstabbed. That's why they're suing Wells Fargo for $60,000,000! If the deal had gone though I wouldn't have lost my job. Wells Fargo is going to be able to take a $60,000,000 break.
