Listen to what she said. She didn't say the government was going to pay for anything; she said should wouldn't have to worry about paying her bills. That implies that's because the economy will be better.

No, my friend. That implies that she believes Obama will care for her and tend to her needs with government handouts and bailouts. That's how I heard it.

I am reminded, seeing these interpretations made by Sir_G and BobJ, of the words of Tom Lehrer about pornography:

When correctly viewed, everything is lewd.

View away, fellas. One of you wakes up unhappy on November 5th. Both of you have to live with the result.

I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

In the first grade my 2 heros were Richard Nixon (because he was from California) and JFK. In fact my favorite album was JFK's most famous speeches. So I will quote from my favorite liberal democrat : "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country".
I feel sorry for citizens who really think they can profit from any election. Self reliance is the key to happiness and giving back to your community is how you serve your country best.

Here's the headline on SirG's video:

Peggy Joseph Thinks Obama Is Going To Pay For Her Gas And Mortgage

BobJ is correct, she never said that. Whoever wrote that headline is taking a page out of the NRA's book:

http://www.truthfightsback.com/smear/293/ The NRA’s ads take obscure votes and twist them into pure fiction.

What's really sad, SirG, is your implication that the heart of the Obama constituency is sad and deluded.

New flash: The heart of Senator Obama's constituency looks like me -- well-educated, well-read, willing to take a stand on issues, willing to change positions when we're found to be in error, walking the talk, putting our money where our mouth is, convinced that Senator Obama will bring about the change we need if elected, and convinced that a Senator McCain election would mean Bush3.

I could use change for a $5 - four ones and four quarters would be nice. I'm not picky about how he delivers it, but I need it soon.

Except that under obama, you would just get the four quarters. The four ones would go to bums on the street...

It's too bad that the heart of Senator Obama is so different from the heart of his constituency.

Willing to take a stand on issues--By flip flopping, missing votes and voting present.

Willing to change positions when found in error--More like willing to change positions when it's politically expedient to do so and never admitting an error.

Walking the talk-- Words matter except when they don't such as when you talk about "spreading the wealth" or how there's no way you can disown Rev. Wright or how white Democrats cling to guns and religion or how you will accept public funding. Of course, why accept public funding when you can accept credit card contributions from everyone and anyone under the sun without the slightest degree of control over whether they are valid transactions are actual people doing the donating.

Putting our money where our mouth is -- that's why several of Obama's relatives are living in abject poverty and his charitable contributions are so miniscule

I was watching the morning news this morning and they talked to a middle-aged white man in Indiana who owns a small shoe store which is struggling. Not the typical member of the Obama kool-aid brigade. He voted for Bush in 2004 and says "we need a change, a new look." I'm sure he is sincere. He is what I would classify as a medium-to-low information voter, not a moron but not someone who spends his time obsessing over politics. He probably goes by the newspapers, TV channels and what he heard at the debates.

Based on that, Obama seems reasonable. There's some basis to saying that if the networks and my local newspaper like the guy and the Democratic party which my Senator Bayh belongs to picked him, he can't be a flaming nutcase. This is the voter that, sadly, Obama is roping in with the full connivance of the mainstream media.

The joke will be on the American public and the Democratic party in the long run, because they will rightly get the blame for whatever goes wrong the next four years and will not be inclined to give Dems a chance any time again soon.

It doesn't matter what I say, Jeemie. I could give you three pages, to no avail. You'll snarkify a reply that says I'm all wet. You do not want to know change we need and how Obama will deliver it. You want to know what I'll say to have the best chance at snarkification.

Same with SSS, except he doesn't want to snarkify. He would pick my post apart using a more intellectual approach.

I answered in this thread because I wanted to reply to SirG's insult. In answer to y'all's follow up question, since I've already said it, snarkify this: I am convinced that a Senator McCain election would mean Bush3.

Since I'm voting for neither McCain nor Obama, I DO want to know what you think is the change we need and how Obama will deliver it.

And I did not "snarkily reply" to your previous post- I "snarkily replied" to the author of the piece you linked to for mis-representing what Reagan conservatism was, and wondered how you could have fallen for it.

Listen- I hate talking points- whether they're spouted from the right or the left. Many times, I have defended Obama against calls that he is a Marxist.

And that editorial was nothing but talking points...so that's why I get snarky.

And even though we disagree on many issues, usually you are good at avoiding spouting talking points.

That you posted this article did a big disconnect with me.

So I truly want to know why you think what Obama wants to do is "the change we need".

I, personally, think neither he nor McCain will offer any substantive change- many of their positions are virtually indistinguishable.

I liken it to having a choice between the candidate who promises to keep the lights and heat on for 3 months vs the one who will do it for 2 months.

Both are going to lead us further down the path of socialism and libral interventionist internationalism that our good friend Mr. Bush also helped facilitate.

I see 4 years of nothing but the same, with only a minor change in details...and I want to know how some could truly see true change coming.
