In to Africa

#1 Post by tanstaafl2 » Thu Oct 30, 2008 1:50 pm

Sitting at the gate waiting to start the 24 hour aerial odyssey that will be the start of my trip to Zambia and Botswana. At least I hope it will only be 24 hours because it will be that long only if all goes as planned. First stop is Dakar, then Jo'burg and finally Lusaka.

Currently expecting a balmy 105 degree day when we finally hit the safari camps!

Wow.

Really, I mean, wow.
I am about 25% sure of this.

Lots of memory available for digital photos and even splurged on a digital video cam. Only limitation will be batteries and recharging capability. That and I still need to read the manual to see how the new camera works. Of course I should have plenty of time to read...

Pam says I only see the sites thru a view finder. I have tried to be better about that recently but may back slide a bit this trip!

Very cool. I didn't know you were going.

I'm currently planning a trip for next fall to Tanzania including a safari and some cultural touring. It is something I've always wanted to do.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Are you taking the 12:30 flight?

#7 Post by CharlesFoxSingers » Thu Oct 30, 2008 2:57 pm

I hear the drums echoing tonight
But she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation
She's coming in 12:30 flight
The moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation
I stopped an old man along the way,
Hoping to find some old forgotten words or ancient melodies.
He turned to me as if to say,
'Hurry boy, it's waiting there for you.'

It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had

The wild dogs cry out in the night
As they grow restless longing for some solitary company
I know that I must do what's right
As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serangetti
I seek to cure what's deep inside, frightened of this thing that I've become

It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had

Hurry boy, she's waiting there for you

It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa, I passed some rains down in Africa
I bless the rains down in Africa, I passed some rains down in Africa
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had
