Political Sign of Hope - Intentionally Non-Partisan

#1 Post by trevor_macfee » Wed Oct 29, 2008 6:54 am

So yesterday into the church office walks one of the older saints in our congregation. She is a faithful participant in both the work and worship of the church, and she is also very, very involved politically. She's been some high-up official in one of the political parties in our county - whenever there's a special event at the church she always get some elected official(s) to come or issue a proclamation or whatever. She is a rabid supporter of whomever that party nominates for any office.

She talked some about why she hoped her candidate for president would win, then she said this, which surprised and inspired me at the same time: "I don't know who is going to win, but I know what I'm going to do the day after the election - I'm getting on my knees and praying for whoever our new president is going to be."

Amen

Dave, with age comes wisdom. :)

My church recently had a retired pastor join our church to help with pastoral care to the elderly and shut-ins. He happened to give the sermon this past week-end at the service that my family attended.

Near the end of a sermon on a not-really0related topic, he noted that there were many who were worried about the outcome of the election. He advised that he had no fear. Whether it be President Obama or President McCain, God still was God, and we always are secure in his loving hands.

Well, then, I will add a REC for Nelly for his RECing.
..what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms.

War is where the government tells you who the bad guy is.
Revolution is when you decide that for yourself.

I really like this. I don't let my children trash-talk or say anything negative like "so-and-so sucks" or "I hate so-and-so" and I'm really surprised at the childish negativity I've seen around. Just remember one of these guys will be YOUR president, and it may not be the one you chose.

It's so nice to see grown-up behavior still exists.

Kinda ironic, isn't it, given the MM?
Enough already. It's my fault! Get over it!
