As a trivia maven, you should (and my guess is you do) know at least a little about a wide variety of topics that otherwise do not interest you.JBillyGirl wrote:As I predicted would happen eventually, Sports Soup did me in today. How should I know anything about NASCAR?

I think it's random. In a five-day spread, I got four Vocabulary Qs, which I almost always get right.WheresFanny wrote:It would not be exaggerating to say that, in an average week, 5 of my questions are Geography or World Events. I should test this by changing my exemption from Science to Geography, since I got my one and only Physical Science question correct (my very first QOD ever and a completely blind stab that, if I recall, less than 10% got right).

Re: October Sploofus Standings
I knew I'd jinx myself. Got a geography question for Saturday. Got it right, though, then answered Sunday's question correctly by remembering that Douglas Adams's initials were DNA. So I've vaulted into 9th place overall.
This computer is definitely faster. Both questions in well under five seconds. At work, I'm usually in the 5-7 second range due to the processing lag. I'll be Sploofusing from home from now on.

Real slow last night because it was "Music & Musicians" and an album title/artist matchup. Managed to guess it correctly, though. Why can't they ask anything about the soft rock groups? In the top 10 at that point, but last among the other BBs in that group. There are still about a dozen of us on the first page of the leaderboard. We are good.

Like last month, sinking like a stone on the endgame - missed the last 2 - but on the brightside I'm still in double digits, much higher then I ever expected to be.

Re: October Sploofus Standings
I answered my question for Thursday and got it correct. I have one more question to go for the month and if I get it right, I will have had a perfect month with no missed questions.
I was hoping to break 40,000 for the month, but I will have to get 1.377 points on my last question to do it. Today I got 1,305 points, which is about average for me, so I am not sure if I will be able to do it.

I got lucky AGAIN. I am defying the laws of probability. 4th or 5th time in a row I was able to rule out one or two choices and the one I ended up picking turned out to the right one.
I have missed at least 2-3 questions.
Congrats to all of y'all who will beat me, and to the couple dozen more who deserve to beat me and will beat me most months.

I overthought an easy geography question just now, and probably will not get to answer Friday's question. I think I may be able to stay in the top 20 for the month regardless.

I just punted a baseball question about the disappointed guest in the Congrats, Phillies thread. I couldn't remember who he played for when he hit 2 grand slams in one game. I knew he played for the Rangers, Expos and Phillies, but I forgot who the Rangers traded him to.
I was hoping to break the Hot 100 for the month. I'm gonna hafta score big tomorrow to make it, I think.
Good luck to the other BBs sploofusing.

I had the best years of my career with the Cardinals! And that's despite the fact that I had to endure Paquette as a teammate while I was there!
I don't remember playing for the Phillies, but then again, I was getting drunk most of the time after I left the Expos, so I may have been playing for the Coors Light Silver Bullets for all I know....

Bravo to both of you. I've missed two so far, with one to go. On both of the ones I missed, I was able to rule out two choices, and in both cases the right answer was one of the two I ruled out!
