What the hell am I gonna wear...

#1 Post by clem21 » Mon Oct 27, 2008 3:47 pm

Because Millionaire just called and rescinded their permission to wear my college sweatshirt on air.
So now I'm screwed.

You see my wardrobe (if you call it that) consists of T-shirts, jeans, sweatshirts, more t-shirts along with a few football jerseys.

So I can put on a jacket and dress shirt for one of the days even though I'm really not that kind of guy. I guess I'll have to find something else to wear tomorrow...
Suggestions???

What, are you crazy? Hello Kitty, of course. Only with a bag over her head so you can't see the brand.
Well, then

Go with a red sweater/blouse and a long black skirt. That combo worked fine for the last millionaire:

Get thee to a Banana Republic. They've got some great dressy-ish casual stuff with really clean lines. The cut of their men's clothing looks really great imo without completely busting your budget. Maybe one of the salesgirls will help you out if you flirt a little...

I'd suggest the dress shirt and the jacket for Wednesday. You don't have to wear a tie unless you want one. If you carry over to a second show, take off the jacket and either roll up the cuffs a couple of turns or put a sweater over the same shirt. If you are held over until Thursday, you can wear exactly the same thing again -- whichever of the variations you liked best, and use the other as your carry-over backup. Any kind of knit shirt with a collar also would work, so long as it doesn't have a visible and identifiable logo. (I realize there aren't that many nice looking knit shirts without a polo pony or an alligator in a prominent place, but you might cover the logo with the jacket.)

If you come up with only one outfit you're willing to wear, you can always make up a story about how it's your "lucky shirt" or "lucky sweater" for a potential second show. It's better to take a couple of choices with you, though, because your assigned AP will feel duty-bound to check out your wardrobe.

Do you want my advice? This is what I was gonna wear.
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Alternative solution:

Call your dad and explain the problem. Ask if he'll front you for another nice shirt or sweater. Tell him he can count it as a holiday present, or alternatively, you'll pay him back 30 days after your show airs, when the check for your winnings will arrive.

Ahem.

Perspective.

You are going to sit in the Hot Seat. Does it make a damned bit of difference to you what you wear?

Pick a couple things from your closet and let your producer choose. If he or she is really horrified by those choices, he or she can rush down to the trendy clothing store of his or her choice and find something for you.

You really, really don't need to waste any energy fretting about this, now.

Sorry, it was intended as a quasi-joke but you're right. Yeah I'll try and find an unlogofied sweater, but Marley has a point so I'll stop talking right about n

A white collared shirt under a sweater would look nice, or a button-down shirt.

I'm sure your friends/relatives would let you raid their closets for something.

I would suggest getting an iron-on transfer of your current avatar and putting it on a stylish white Hanes. Nothing could look schnazzier than Kayla21.

In my opinion.

My Banana Republic salesgirl is a full-time transvestite. No joke. Clem wouldn't have to flirt, though--he's young and looks fairly cute in profile. And if he resembles that dumpling in his avatar in any way.........

(That baby is too darned cute!!!!)

I did "get thee to Banana Republic" today and found something in my price range (Woohoo for 60% off) I look preppy and I'm okay with it. As Marley said it's kinda not so important.

Meanwhile I went to today's afternoon taping and got acclimated. I also got the chance to have this conversation:

Random Stranger: Are you gonna audition later?
Me: Nah
RS: Why not???
Me: Because I'm taping tomorrow.
<Random stranger is in awe of my coolness>

It was very fun. Thanks for the good vibes y'all!

Well, there you go! I have my civic chorale practice tonight,
but I'll see you in chat late - I don't get home until after 9PM central.

If I miss you, the best of luck tomorrow. Win big!
