Message for Sunflower (and other cheap bastards)
Linens n Things are not only not taking competitors' coupons, they're not even taking their own! Which would be fine if anything was actually 'marked down'. And they aren't honouring their latest sale circular. Wow, they must be really proud of their crappy little going out of business "sale". 95% of the merch is 10% off. If I didn't want it previously with my 20% off coupon, why would I want it at 10% off just because you put a big MARKDOWN! CLEARANCE!!! sign on it?
In related news, I saw a Hello Kitty telephone at Costco that I was extremely close to purchasing. (Also. gas is 2.49, yay!)

Chill, lady. It's not like LNT wanted to do this. And at this point, decisions are in the hands of the liquidators, not with the LNT's management.
10% off your entire purchase is better than 20% off a single item, unless that's the only thing you're buying. Or unless you have one of their "20% off entire purchase" coupons. Besides, the vultures take the good stuff first. What'll be left in a week will be all the crappy stuff they stocked and which didn't sell, which helped them get into this situation in the first place.

I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Chill????
Only suckers buy one item with a 20% coupon and pay full price on the rest of their purchases. And, yes, I had three "20% off entire purchase" coupons saved. Ha!
I don't know why the vultures will take the good stuff at 10% off when they could have gotten it last week for 20% off. I'll wait a few weeks when it's 40%-50% off and, if the few things I wanted are no longer there, well......then I didn't need them that bad in the first place.

Re: Message for Sunflower (and other cheap bastards)
You'd be surprised at how many people aren't capable of making that calculation. They're the same folks who travel ten miles out of their way in a car getting 25 mpg to save two cents a gallon, thus spending $3.00 worth of gas to save maybe 30 cents. (Don't quote me on the math. It's a rough estimate.)WheresFanny wrote:Chill?gsabc wrote:Chill, lady. It's not like LNT wanted to do this. Good luck finding some good stuff left when the discount is that big. We'll probably look, too, just in case.

Give them a few weeks...the markdowns will get progressively better. My LNT has been going at it several weeks now and are now finally up to 50-70% off. I got a 7qt 1000 watt Cuisinart stand mixer two days ago for under $250.WheresFanny wrote: 95% of the merch is 10% off.

Re: Message for Sunflower (and other cheap bastards)
FYI they accepted one coupon per item, so I used to bring one for everything I planned to buy...plus there's always a stash in my car. So if you're smart about it, which Fanny and I ARE...you essentially get 20% off your entire purchase.gsabc wrote:Chill, lady. It's not like LNT wanted to do this. And actually, there are several scenarios where 20% off a single item would still beat out 10% off your entire purchase, even if buying multiple items. Maybe one of the statistical/math people can set those up here...lol. But if you bought one $100 item and got 20% off of it, you'd have to spend over $200 for the 10% off your whole purchase to work out better.

Re: Message for Sunflower (and other cheap bastards)
Fanny, I am truly depressed!!! Mostly because I now think BB&B will have no motivation to keep their lax policy on expired coupons, multiple coupons, etc. I had not seen this post yet, but I heard about LNT last week so last night I sat in the mailroom pulling all of the discarded BB&B coupons from the recycle bin! I've stooped so low...but at least they aren't expired!!!
And thankfully I had severed my ties with LNT. For the longest time I had store credits with them because I kept returning stuff I had purchased with gift cards, it was like a neverending cycle of store credit. A couple weeks ago I realized I still had returns in the car, I brought them in intending to buy something else in case this happened, so at least I'd have something of value. The cashier gave me cash though...I didn't ask questions, I just took it and left! And that will probably be the last time I step foot in there. I'll just go to BB&B. We already had 2 LNT's go out of business and I didn't find anything. The employees snatch up all the stuff in between the 10% off and 50% off stages...they still get their discount, so they're getting it cheaper than we are.

They are also not accepting checks, LNT credit cards or rewards certificates...
And they hope to close all stores no later than January 1st. Why should it take that long?? Slash the prices, they could be closed in a month.

I think they will, it seems to me that LNT had that policy before there was a BB&B in town. Them closing really doesn't affect me too much, I think I've been to LNT twice since the BB&B opened up down the street from me a bit over a year ago. And I don't think I purchased anything either time.sunflower wrote:Fanny, I am truly depressed!!! I might stop into BB&B on my next trip to or from wherever and see if I can get some scoop. I'll let you know if I find out anything!

Re: Message for Sunflower (and other cheap bastards)
Liquidation sales always take a while. The liquidator often brings in items from other stores that they're also selling off. These folks probably want to hang around over the Christmas shopping season in the hopes of selling more of the leftovers.sunflower wrote:They are also not accepting checks, LNT credit cards or rewards certificates...
