I guess they are just being cynical, since they don't make any money when the babies are thrown in the trash.
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Sorry, how is it sicker to reference possible war fatalities than it is to reference babies in trash cans?

I am truly curious.

I didn't get that either.

Someone will splain it, no doubt.

It is not, unless you are pro-choice.

Here's my thought process, not necessarily reflective of anyone else's and not necessarily completely logical. To discuss abortions, whether you are pro-choice or pro-life is generally done in the abstract. Through great exposure over the years, we come to disassociate unknown abortions of unknown, unnamed embryos from our own lives (unless or until it comes close, of course.) On the other hand, every single soldier killed in war has a name, a face, and a family, and many of those families live in fresh grief every day. Therefore, to me, invoking the image of dead soldiers is more painful to more people, and invoking those images as "a snappy comeback" to make a political point is unacceptable.

I would have no problem if the abstract concept of "abortion" were equated with the abstract concept of "casualties" in a serious and thoughtful discusion about life.

Thanks, SC. Much appreciated.

P.S. I now note that Nelly never said "dead soldiers." That is how I read it, but not exactly what he said. So, my reaction may have been overly harsh. I shouldn't have read this thread at all.
