Trivia at work this week

#1 Post by christie1111 » Mon Oct 20, 2008 8:14 am

Obviously people will be googling here so feel free to do the same...

Spoiler
1- One minute of playing with the garden hose uses X gallons of water?

2- What percent of the 350,000,000 lbs of food bought each year is thrown away?

3- Producing 1 serving (2oz) of pasta requires how many gallons of water?

BiT will dismiss the questions as liberal propaganda, you know....

And beast, you'll have to fight three of my kids for the dry spaghetti! Do you prefer thin, like angel hair, or thick? Rain Man is the only one who doesn't chomp on the crunchy stuff. Even the CAT eats the dry spaghetti!

We use dry spaghetti to light those tall decorative candles in the glass holders. Only way to do it without burning your fingers trying to reach in. Also useful in relighting furnace pilot lights ...
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

I like the thicker spaghetti better, but either will work....

So I can scratch that off my weird list I guess......

My kids are angel hair sorts. Although when it's cooked, Erin loves the bow ties. I'm a penne person.

So my answer for how much water it takes would be: too much! I've found myself with one pan of sauce and three pots of water for three different types of noodles!

What's that supposed to mean? Is that for the U.S. only? If so, it means that the average person buys only about one pound of food per year. They better not throw any of it away, because they're going to be hungry!

Well, I don't know what they meant but I did win an I-pod Shuffle.

I just found a site that said that 50% of the food produced is wasted.

Hmmmm. Not in my house. Son1111 just called to see if he could eat what was left of his Dad's Monte Cristo sandwich.

And I thought Casey was weird! She loves dry spaghetti.

That's 350,000,000 tons!

Of course that won't save much water as you still have to water the grain required to make the pasta.

But you knew that!
