speaking of frontline

#1 Post by BigDrawMan » Fri Oct 17, 2008 9:59 am

i learned the following:

after mccain came back from Vietnam, he was given a desk job for which he was ill suited and wanted to leave. His boss said he had the perfect job-escorting congresspersons who take military aircraft on "official biness".McCain became good friends with Gary Hart and a gop senator whose name escapes me.They requested McCain to be their permanent escort. And drinking buddy/hell raiser/skirt chaser.Much tail was had by all.
Anywho, Hart suggested to McCain that he run for office, after he had married Cindy and settled in Phoenix, as he was a conservative guy in a conservative state and his new f-i-l had lotsa $ and connections.McCain thought it was a good idea, as he had meet a lotta congressfolk and figgered if they could do it, so could he.

I believe the GOP senator was John Tower.

Was McCain in the Senate when Tower was nominated for Secretary of Defense? How did he vote on confirmation? --Bob
