Garden State Sign Being Stolen
The 66.6 mile maker.
This cracked me up:
"Given the symbolism of the number and the fact that it is obviously done in the middle of night, and in the middle of nowhere, I can safely say that I'm not eager to meet the rocket scientists doing it," Orlando added.
Then this one sealed the deal:
A few years ago, highway officials in Morris County couldn't keep signs for Route 666 on the poles; as quickly as crews put them up, someone would take them down and steal them, often within a day or two.
Solution: They changed the name of the road to Route 665. A similar tactic might be in store for the Parkway and Turnpike mile markers, with replacement signs reading 66.61, which kind of wrecks the Satanic buzz

Aren't there any Route 13 signs to steal? Take something that's actually worth it, dammit!

Seat # 9 signs.

My seat I got for most of the ballgames I went to this year was a Seat 9. But taking a metal plate with a "9" written on it just wouldn't do anything for me....
Fanny had Seat 13 seats at the Pepsi Center, but I don't think she ever took the number home either....

Back several years ago when Corona beer suddenly became the fashionable thing to drink, the city finally stopped putting up signs on Corona street because they'd get stolen faster than they could replace them.
I think the furor has died down by now. I suppose it's Red Bull Boulevard that's in danger now. Ha!

It gets worse. Our sign reading "The Red Bull Family Home" got ripped off so many times, I just left the pole empty.WheresFanny wrote:Back several years ago when Corona beer suddenly became the fashionable thing to drink, the city finally stopped putting up signs on Corona street because they'd get stolen faster than they could replace them.

Just the metal tag wouldn't reflect all the 1s and 3s in the total seat designation. I thought about saving a ticket for posterity, but the only one I could still find lying around here is actually my nephew's ticket, so it's seat 12. Ha! (My sister had seat 9 in our group.)littlebeast13 wrote:My seat I got for most of the ballgames I went to this year was a Seat 9. I think yesterday was the last day to re-up my ticket package for my 31313 seats for this year. I stuck to my guns and didn't do it. The boycott is on like Donkey Kong!

Now how did you know that I'd never otherwise bother to read something with Putin in the subject line? Ha!littlebeast13 wrote:Hey Fanny, if you haven't already, check out the Putin thread from yesterday.......

I figured if I saw that avatar and immediately thought of Peekaboo Fanny, that you'd have certainly made that connection if you'd have seen it too.....
We're not voting for Putin this year, so I figured it was a safe thread to read......

I wouldn't have read it because I'm not interested in politicians or politics. I sometimes read part of the political crap threads, but usually just to roll my eyes or try to guess who the repliers will be and what they'll say. If I don't read them it's not because they infuriate me, but because they bore me.littlebeast13 wrote:WheresFanny wrote:Now how did you know that I'd never otherwise bother to read something with Putin in the subject line? I'm on my second Mini-sized hernia jug of coffee this morning, so it's not lack of alertness. Just distractions because I keep seeing replies.Red Bull wrote:I can bring you a fresh batch of my product to help, if you'd like...littlebeast13 wrote: Pardon moi....

I know, I know, just stay in my own damned compiling thread and I won't see the replies.

There usta be a 666 over by the Colorado-Utah border, but it had one of the highest accident rates in the country, so TPTB thought that changing it to 491 might make for improvement. Also they thought they would get less grief from folks about the symbolism.
It dint work. The accident rate is still high, and they got grief from Route 66 history buffs.
