Re: DEXTER!
Yes!! I was also impressed with last night's episode, and judging from the upcoming scenes it looks like another exciting season! Between Dexter, Amazing Race, and Mad Men, Sunday night is back to being my favorite television night of the week.dimmzy wrote:Anyone catch Dexter last night on Showtime? I liked the Network version of Dexter (and the book), anyone have any insights at to how that compared with the Showtime version? Is the the original significantly bloodier that the network version.
Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

I wasn't real thrilled. It seems like he's starting to get all family guy and fuzzy around the edges, which is in direct opposition to his sociopathic lack of feeling at the beginning. I feel like they're trying to make him lovable.dimmzy wrote:Anyone catch Dexter last night on Showtime? I'm very impressed that the quality is still high!!
Plus I miss Moses Deyell (he went by 'Doakes' in this show, but he'll always be Deyell to me. Ha!).

The Showtime version has lots more of the three Bs. Blood, Boobs and Bad Language.themanintheseersuckersuit wrote:I liked the Network version of Dexter (and the book), anyone have any insights at to how that compared with the Showtime version? It seems like there would be so much that has to be cut that the network version would hardly even make any sense (although I haven't seen any of them).

The main differences I noticed between Showtime's Dexter and what was shown on CBS were mostly the profanity and the occasional nudity/simulated sex. I'm pretty squeamish about violence and I've never had to look away/close my eyes while watching on Showtime. I think what may be missed while watching this program censored are some of the nuances of the characters.themanintheseersuckersuit wrote:I liked the Network version of Dexter (and the book), anyone have any insights at to how that compared with the Showtime version? Re: DEXTER!
I was shocked by what happened to Doakes last season! But, once he figured out who the Bay Harbor Butcher is----I guess there weren't too many options for that character. I know what you mean about Dexter settling into domestic bliss with Rita and her children, but when you think about the circumstances of Rita's ex-husband's death....it's kind of ironic and funny, in a serial killing sort of way. I don't want Dexter to become a dad though, I hope they go in another direction with that.WheresFanny wrote:I wasn't real thrilled.
