I'm psyched! I tried to get my cleaning guy to try out with me (they had tryouts here in Rochester last year), but he chickened out at the last minute. I was going to be the Corporate, Controlling Bitch and he was going to be the laid-back, musician cleaning guy.

Naturally, I'm NOT a Corporate, Controlling Bitch.

But I could play one on TV.

I'm a little disappointed that the teams continue to be the same old tired stereotypes: Southern Belles, token Old Couple, Parent/Child, rowdy guys, black team, fighting couple. Where are the other minorities, or people with DIFFERENT stories? I've SEEN all these people before -- even the bickering sounds the same Zzzzzzzz ....

What was the over/under for number of minutes for someone to tell a cabbie, "rapido?" It was about 20 minutes into the show when the Brazilian taxi driver was given the order.

When the couples were introduced, I told elwing that the beekeepers would not be long for the competition. Turns out I was right. Faced with that fluke of being right, I'm pretty sure the frat boys will not be in the competition much longer, either.

I'm so happy this show is back! I did hear a snippet from the producer who says that they don't anticipate going to HD because they are just happy to be renewed.

The first show was strong but I did not get any sense of a natural "team to root for". I originally thought it might be the dating couple from NYC (can't remember his name but she is Sarah), but they bickered so much during this first installment that I anticipate it getting very tiresome very soon.

That's why I'm thinking that the show is resting on its Emmy laurels. I think they should shake it up a bit ... for example, switch the teams around; have the teams compete TOGETHER for a challenge. And really, couldn't there by SOME other "different" pairings? The year I enjoyed it most was when they had the Muslim cousins and the Indian couple on (sadly, they, like the beekeepers, were eliminated first). How about some Native Americans? People with handicaps? If a blind man can conquer Everest, why couldn't he be on Amazing Race? How about a celebrity version? Or how about a team that meets for the first time at the START?

About three years ago Tracey and I went to a cattle call audition for TAR at a car dealership in Alexandria, VA. The couple in front of us was a brother and sister in which the brother was deaf. They were very personable and comfortable in front of the camera. I thought they had a real shot but apparently nothing must have come from it. Of course, with as many people in that line as there were, it was almost impossible to get noticed!

Like Survivor, though, TAR rests on its successful formula and is afraid to tweak it at all. They tried with the family edition and apparently that failed miserably (I watched, but it did seem rather week).

You know, TAR wouldn't be like spending an afternoon at the SyndieBAM studio. Do you think the celebs would put up with weeks of a grueling schedule running around the world?

And making airline reservations, hailing cabs, etc. on their own, instead of having "their people" do it?

They do like their stereotypes although they have tried different things before. The family edition was a flop but it was an attempt at something different. And of course there was Mirna and Schmirna, the cackling cousins, one of whom was a dwarf. That seems different. Also I believe there was a contestant who was an amputee in season 10.

And I seem to recall her boyfriend was a complete ass. That could be considered a handicap as well...

I think being blind would be tough on this show. Deaf might be possible.

I've been about as obsessed with being on this show as I was with Millionaire, and agree completely with your comments. I want to be the first person with arthritis and a knee replacement to compete and try to prove mind over matter (with some decent arm strength). I even went so far as to send an e-mail (at least I attempted; who knows if it went through) suggesting they take individuals and pair them up for the race. They could come up with some really interesting combos that way AND those of us without partners (can't convince anyone they want to try it with me) would have a chance to get on.

Anyone want to play?

I am surprised that "mom and dad' did not look the least bit insulted or woken up by being called that by the brother and sister team. I would be and I am older than the cheated on lady.

You've not just been released from prison or some R Wing, have you? You WILL legally be able to leave the state without calling anyone from Probation, correct? You don't own more than 8 or 7 cats, do you? You DO throw out old newspapers and cans, right? You're not trying to break any records for not bathing, are you?
