Sarah Palin’s Yahoo account hijacked, e-mails posted online

#1 Post by Bob Juch » Thu Sep 18, 2008 12:10 pm

On the heels of media reports that Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin was using a private Yahoo e-mail account (gov.palin@yahoo.com) to conduct Alaska state business, hackers have broken into the account and posted evidence of the hijack on Wikileaks.

An activist group calling itself ‘anonymous’ claimed responsibility for the compromise and released screenshots, photographs and the e-mail addresses of several people close to Palin, including her husband Todd and assistant Ivy Frye.

I have confidence that phony e-mails purporting to be to or from Gov. Palin will appear before the election. Perhaps focus groups are currently being formed to determine what kind of smear might be scurrilous enough to swing votes.

They were quoting from them in the Enquirer.

I really wasn't looking, however.

I got an e-mail from Gov. Palin's Yahoo account once.

She told me to stop referring to her as Milfy McMooseburger.

Hacking into the accounts and Palin's using the accounts to bypass government transparency are both illegal.

And of course, the unproved allegation that Governor Palin had done that justified the unquestionably illegal act of hacking her account.

If you fool a service like Yahoo into giving out a password by providing easily obtainable personal information, is that still considered hacking? It requires very little technical expertise.

The perp is a hack of a hacker.

Well that seals it for me...Sarah Palin uses yahoo instead of AOL? I can't vote for that ticket now.

It would be cute if she and her husband used the account to send love notes to each other. It's probably more private than doing it on a bored.

It isn't an unproven allegation. The governor has used Yahoo to bypass the official e-mail system so that the messages would be exempt from the Open Records Act. A number of people in Alaska government have come forth with proof of this.

Our local paper is carrying this as it looks like the #1 hacker suspect is a University of Tennessee student (and son of a democratic state representative). The hacker claimed to be looking for scandle info, but found only normal stuff like family pictures etc.

How, exactly, do you prove why she used Yahoo?
