The good news is that I think they're done for now right in front of the house. They've moved on up the street, and will be working there for a bit yet.
The bad news is that the flowers are mulch. What I had thought was a shovelful of dirt under the row of flowers was actually just a plowed-up area. They hadn't just dropped the casing down. They had put it down and slid it into place, just plowing over the grass, the flowers and the rose bush and shearing them off about an inch below the ground. Besides the bush, there were about a dozen day lilies, including some that BD had given to GW as a gift, a coreopsis bush, a small lilac bush and some other lilies whose type I can't recall. GW is not happy. We intend to itemize what's there and insist on replacements, as was promised.
The other bad news is that we got yet another notice about possible blasting, making me think that it's not just possible, but probable. Poor kitties will be unhappy.

Wasn't a question of digging, it was a question of plopping the ginormous chunk of metal on the side of the road. Technically, the shoulder is still town property and not ours, but this thing easily extended four feet off the street. But yes, they could have told us that they were going to use that section to stage the beast. They didn't.ghostjmf wrote:I hope the kitties are not in the digup area, or they too would be mulch, with these people doing it.
Couldn't they have told you "we plan to dig here'" (you know, like all those "dig safe" lines you see drawn everywhere) & had you dig up your own rose buses, flower, etc, for possible replanting?
