One more post-wedding task done

#1 Post by gsabc » Wed Sep 17, 2008 6:42 am

The gown has been handed off for cleaning and preservation. There was only minor staining - dirt on the train where it dragged the floor, and one or two very small oil stains from where some food probably hit it (the location suggests leaning against the edge of a table). It gets cleaned, shaped, and put in a clear plastic box with an inert atmosphere. No idea how well sealed the box will be to keep air out.

Surprisingly, this is a one-day operation. We supposedly can pick it up tonight. It's a major local dry cleaners chain that I've known forever, so they're reputable.

GW's dress also got handed in, but just for cleaning. Now to find somewhere to show her off wearing it again...
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

I had my wedding gown preserved, but I doubt that either of my daughters will be able to wear it.

Mine is still hanging in my closet.

I wonder if it would fit me today.

I hear that Dennis Rodman's wedding dress still fits him. :P

Correction: GW's dress cleaning was a one-day operation. The gown cleaning and preservation is a 1-2 week deal. Our receipt showed only the dress cleaning pickup date, so the clerk thought that was for both. This makes more sense.

Are you going to keep it at your house or will you send it to her?

We all think we know the answer to this question.

I'm still trying to give stuff to my kids that belongs to them. I have a feeling the gown will stay in Boston for a while. A long while.
