I just spent two days in Birmingham to help out my friend, Carmen, who is being treated there for lymphoma.

She ended up needing a family member with her yesterday due to a bone marrow test they were doing. I left yesterday afternoon and spend the night with my former neighbor who now lives there.

My assignment was to bring Carmen home today.

She ended up having her chemo treatment today, which takes about five hours. Then she found out they want to see her again on Friday.

When I went to pick her up, she was too tired to make the trip home and then come back to Birmingham on Friday. So she ended up staying with a friend we have who lives there.

I came home alone.

I wanted Julie to know I did drive through the town of Hoover. I didn't see Banberry Drive though.

Yikes. I hope she and you both get some rest between now and Friday.

Please take time and rest yourself.

If you get overly tired, you can't be there for your friend.

And you are a terrific friend to doing this for her.

I am glad that you arrived safely.

What you are doing for your friend is very sweet!

I hope that she recovers from the chemo quickly.

Thanks. I wouldn't trade places with her for anything, so I didn't complain at all. I just told her we love her and let me know what else I can do for her.

I got some great shopping done. A nice Gymboree store was having a sale, so Chapman got a whole bag full of stuff. :)

I also did a little damage for myself, but no shoes.
