Mrs. Buff took a training course at the Disney Institute so I went down with her to celebrate my upcoming (next month--but still a good excuse) 50th BD...got in three rounds of golf (courses unimpressive for those who care--I can supply details) but had a great time. Got all misty eyed at the former Play It site until...
...I went in and played the new Toy Story game. It is like the Buzz Lightyear ride--only in 3D and much better. I didn't want to like it, since it was built on hallowed ground--but it rocks.
Stayed at the Grand Floridian--great hotel. Also, had Granny Buff come up and take care of the kids (didn't want to pull them out of school on week 2) so my first adult only trip to WDW ever--I liked it.
Told the kids we were on a "business trip"...bad, bad Buff...
Missed you guys.

Golf talk for PeaBabe...
I played three courses there--Lake Buena Vista, Magnolia and Oak Trail.
Lake Buena Vista is the original Disney course and has hosted the PGA, LPGA and Senior PGA--but not for a long time and it shows. Course has had its better days--just kind of shabby looking and has condos right on top of it. I roasted--it was nearly 100 degrees.
Magnolia is the course right next to the Grand Floridian and the Shades of Green resorts...it is one of the two courses WDW uses to host the current PGA tour stop (Childrens Miracle Network--yup, Marie Osmond will be there) which is now part of the Fall (Afterthought) Series in November. It is much better than LBV with verrrrry punitive, thick deep rough. But, it is still nothing to rave about AND the fairways on all three courses were shaved down so much it was like hitting off the mat at a driving range--this is my biggest gripe about Florida courses. Because it is off season and I played after 10:00--I only paid $59 for the round (carts have GPS--I do love that) but in season (over the winter) the round here is $149--ain't no way I would pay it.
The third course is my fav--little Oak Trail. A nice, fairly well maintained 9 hole walking course that is no pushover but is $38 for the round and just a lot of fun. I highly recommend this course--especially if you only have a couple of hours free but the catch is you have to walk--no carts unless you're handicapped.
My three rounds, in order...83, 82 and...76! (Maybe that's why I like Oak Trail--two birdies.)
In my opinion--there are many better courses in the area around WDW and in/near Orlando--I think these are overrated and very overpriced in season. I also think they are about to lose their PGA stop for even the Fall Series--the very nice pro shop lady told me that they had a very sparse turnout of golfers AND galleries for last year's event and talk is if it doesn't improve Disney is going to can it. Frankly--no real loss for either side--again, I think the only reason they have a tour stop is they are Disney. I'd be interested if any else has played them--but from the folks I know my opinion seems to be the majority.
