And the rain has begun . . .

#1 Post by hermillion » Sat Sep 13, 2008 1:17 pm

Our weather guys told us to finish errands early today, and they hit it on the nose.

So far, not much wind, but the skies have opened up.

We've been getting rain for about 3 hours.

Pretty strong winds, too.

Cal --

Any tornado warnings?

They talked about them briefly on The Weather Channel but I couldn't catch where they were discussing.

hermillion --

Any talk of flooding?

They talked about flooding on The Weather Channel and showed a swath of land that seemed to include Tulsa.

You all are in our prayers that things will be OK.

The Tornado Warnings I've seen are on the eastern edge of the storm. That puts them in northwestern Louisiana and southern Arkansas.

So far my grandparents, mom, dad, and some friends lights are out. Mine have flickered, but so far I still have power.

My niece and sister are still over here. I'm holding them until this thing blows over.

It's still raining, as it has been all afternoon and evening. We have flood warnings for every county in eastern OK, but I think it will mainly affect folks close to rivers. The weather guys say we'll continue to get rain for at least the next 5 hours.

We've had sustained winds in the 20 mph range since around 3:00, with gusts to 40. That will continue until around noon tomorrow.

herjosie is now refusing to even consider stepping outside.

That's because Josie has naturally curly hair, and when she goes in the rain, her hairdo gets all messed up. Dainty pretty girls are like that, and that's okay. Lizbit and I have short hair so we don't mind so much (but Lizbit minds it less than me because sometimes too much wet makes my bones achy.) It sounds like it's stopped raining here at the Board and Biscuit, although we won't have a chance to go outside again until morning.

They're on to me about using the office computer here, which has made it difficult to keep in touch with all of you. They put a different kind of latch on my kennel run, so it took me a long time to figure out how to open it. Once I got out, I discovered they'd stacked two 40-pound bags of kibble in front of the office door. Hardhardhard to move by just using my teeth! The door was locked, but I figured out how to get that open last time. Then I noticed the sign taped to the middle of the door.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

STAY OUT, ANNIE.

I can take a hint. I just don't always follow the rules.

Anyway, I wanted to say hello. I hope Josie gets to go outside tomorrow, and that all the wet people everywhere get dried out, and I wish my mom would come home.

Love,
Annie

Hope all this rain doesn't delay your mom's return home. I'm sure she feels the same way. Now be a good girl and follow the rules.

Hop aboard, ma'am. You can stay in the back where it's dry..... right next to the squirrels....

I picture her as sitting down and having tea with the squirrels.

As opposed to what a somewhat larger Okiepup might attempt.

Tea?

I only drink Beast's Pepsi....
Squirrels are the architects of forests, the planters of trees, nature's own acrobats and show a zest for life that can inspire us. Every day should be National Squirrel Appreciation Day!

--squirrelmama (10/3/07)

Many of these (squirrel) migrations were probably caused by food shortages as well as habitat overcrowding. We solved that for them. We not only reduced their habitat, we reduced the whole species by about 90%. The least we can do now is share a little birdseed with them.

I think missanniecamaro is absolutely correct.

Did some evil squirrels take your pretty bow when you went outside last?

That is not nice of them.

When My Pretty Lady goes outside, her hair gets very fluffy but not in a good way. She says it's because she has natural curly hair and she smiles.

I do not see why she smiles because I do not think it is funny.

I would hate to see that happen to you.

Your friend,
Miss Denise
