Thanks Cal.
I am actually one of the few people I know who has power....for the time being....it was on when we got home. (We stayed at a lower floor of a well built highrise down the street--I don't think I could have dealt being in the house during this storm--too many windows).
It is awful here. It looks like a bomb went off. Lots of things toppled over, no power to street lights, it's a big mess.
I've been in other hurricanes before, and last night by far was the scariest. The hurricane lasted so long. It sounded like a freight train and the ocean at the same time. You could hear the windows creaking and the water slamming against the building. Lots of exploding power line thingies. I slept zero.
My house is fine. Thankfully we got a new roof this summer and it worked! Trees are down all over the yard--can't get out of the driveway because of tree debris. Fortunately, none of it hit the roof.

Nobody has water. The water pressure is low and they have asked us not to drink it because it might be contaminated.
I feel so bad for the people in Galveston and that part of town. It has to be much worse there--and it is pretty bad here. Lots of neighbors have houses that they can't live in--trees through the hosue.
