Gas went up 50 cents this morning

We're in Philadelphia.

I can only imagine what it will be like in other places.

Yep, when gas prices spike, it must be time for my September baseball trip.....

I caught the Rita spike 3 years ago too.....

Just went down and checked and filled up while I was there....

Up only 10 cents ($4.09), but then again, we had a pre-Ike spike of 30 cents Wednesday and 10 cents more yesterday, so all in all, it's actually up 50 cents from what it should be....

I filled my tank yesterday, because I thought that it might go up. It was $3.68 a gallon.

Gas was less in California yesterday than it was here!?!?!?

Now I know something funny was going on locally this week......

The price of gas in OC has been stable all week.

The price of gas in OC has been stable all week.

Our gas was $3.59 at the start of the week, then it shot up to $3.89 Wednesday and $3.99 yesterday....

I heard gas across the river was still $3.39 yesterday, so I'm betting something screwy was happening locally.

Considering how close we are to several major refineries, it always baffles me how much we get gouged for gas around here.....

There were places down here that raised prices over a dollar a gallon in a 24 hour period. They had shots on the news last night of gas station marquees listing regular at $5.29

I filled up at a place that hadn't gone up nearly as much ($3.79) before I went home last night.
I felt the change

$3.53 at the Kangaroo I passed this morning. Didn't look at the warehouse club price since I didn't need any. It had been down to $3.31 the other day...

Yesterday morning it averaged $3.45 for regular unleaded. Today it's at $4.99. $1.55 increase in 24 hours. The only good news is that diesel hasn't been hit with the same spiking that gas has. Last week diesel was running anywhere from .40 to .60 above gas. Today I filled up with diesel at $4.09 - ninety cents a gallon less then unleaded.

I don't expect the low diesel prices to last, greed doesn't seem to have too many boundaries.

I just paid $3.659 in town. They haven't increased yet. It's less other places but I don't go there much.

You Volunteers must be nuts. What's wrong with y'all to charge/pay such prices? I actually live where tens of thousands of evacuees are camping out, and no one's trying to gouge anyone here. My 7-11 is at $3.69. Other places are lower than that.

I paid $3.59 last night -- also afraid it might go up overnight.

Leah gassed up this morning at the same station & it was unchanged.

Quick check on Long Island, along the L.I.E. in central Suffolk county, all orginally had prices of $3.699:

Station #1 Exxon, was $4.099 this AM
Station #2 Exxon, was $4.099 this AM
Station #3 Exxon, had hiked to $4.199 and at 10:15 AM was changing it back to $3.999.

Ours just jumped $.17 a litre overnight. We're now at $1.35 a litre.
