Anyone listen to Rachel Maddow
on Air America?
What do you think of her show? I've got a ticket to a live broadcast this evening.

She's got a show on MSNBCrap now. I was flipping last night and David caught a glimpse of her. His reaction wasn't pretty.
However, a ticket to a live broadcast of any radio show might be pretty fun.

I've listened to Dr. Maddow (it is appropriate to call her that because she has a political science doctorate from Oxford) on the radio ever since she did "Unfiltered" with Lizz Winstead (of "Daily Show" fame) and rapper Chuck D when Air America began over 4 years. I've signed petitions over the past two years for MSNBC to give her her own show. I'm glad that she finally got her own TV show this week. She's not just smart... she's wickedly smart. And she's funny, too.

Oh God no I don't listen to her.
I agree with nelly that she is very smart. She also comes across as incredibly condescending about her intelligence and take on everything.
Plus she's on MSNBCrap (I like that one!) and is pals with Keith "King of Smarmy" Olbermann.
By the way, I don't watch O'Reilly or Hannity & Colmes either.
Just to be fair and balanced....

Re: Anyone listen to Rachel Maddow
I don't know how much fun I could have though. I'm reminded of a scene from the move "My Fellow Americans" with Jack Lemmon (the Republican ex-President) and James Garner (the Democratic ex-President). The two of them are in Jack Lemmon's presidential library, and James Garner is looking at the Republican stuff in there and says "I feel dirty." I think I would feel dirty at a Rachel Maddow show...Tocqueville3 wrote:Oh dear God, no.MarleysGh0st wrote:on Air America?

I thought she played for the other team.Spock wrote:Politically-not my side-but she is kind of hot.
False?
edited to add: Apparently not:
Maddow lives in Manhattan and Western Massachusetts with her partner, artist and accountant Susan Mikula. The couple met in 1999, when Mikula hired Maddow, who was then working on her doctoral dissertation, for outside work at her home. They moved in together a year and a half later.

Oh well-I still think she is hot-and besides the most fun I ever had at a wedding dance was with a flirtatious lesbian-who was obviously the girl in that relationship.Flybrick wrote:I thought she played for the other team.Spock wrote:Politically-not my side-but she is kind of hot.

Also-keep in mind-there are very few women that I find unattractive<G>Spock wrote:Oh well-I still think she is hot-and besides the most fun I ever had at a wedding dance was with a flirtatious lesbian-who was obviously the girl in that relationship.Flybrick wrote:I thought she played for the other team.Spock wrote:Politically-not my side-but she is kind of hot.

She is too Keith-like for my taste. When she was a guest on his show, she had a few funny one-liners but that was about it.
Sting watched her show the first night it aired and didn't like the format and didn't like her style and will not be watching again.
I happen to think she is very attractive and has a face that can wear that haircut.

Well, that was interesting, particularly comparing this radio broadcast to the many WWTBAM tapings I've gone to. Before it started, Rachel encouraged the audience to make lots of noise, but there was no warm-up comedian to give us directions on that or to keep up the energy during the show. Since Rachel had lots of fans in the audience, they didn't need any encouragement, there.
Odd, too, with this being a news (or news-based) show. Lots of wild applause at the start, then she starts reading the news summary: suicide bombers in Iraq, Ike bearing down on the Texas coast...gee, that quickly puts a damper on the mood!
During commercial breaks, Rachel was busy working on her notes for the next segments and the audience was left to talk amongst themselves.
But the best part of the commercial breaks at this show: unlike at SyndieBAM, where the audience is hoping that maybe, just maybe, the staffers might hand out a few pieces of hard candy, tonight we were free to get up and buy a beer or wine at the back of the theater!

She came to visit Ithaca, broadcasting from the "historic State Theater". There was no metal detector and the volunteer ushers don't come near to the menacing visage of the ABC security guards!TheConfessor wrote:Are you in New York or is she in Ithaca? Where is the studio? Did they make you go through a metal detector? Maybe next time you can sneak in a hip flask of hooch.
After the radio broadcast was over, it was originally planned that she stay for a Q&A with the local audience, but then she started that TV job this week and TPTB decided they wanted her participating in Friday's TV broadcast, so she had to leave immediately to take part in that from some other, undisclosed location in Ithaca. (I'm thinking it was at Ithaca College, where they have an excellent School of Broadcasting.)

How did I miss this?
I like Maddow as a poliical commentator.
I particularly like her when she is sparring with Pat Buchannan.
I haven't seen her show yet but my cousin tells me that Buchannan will be a regular with his own segment toward the end of the show. She calls him "her fake Uncle Pat" or something like that.
Apparently, they spar. What a shock.
I don't listen to Hannity and I can take O'Reilly in smallish doses.
But, as far as conservative commentators, I think my favorite is Michael Smirconish. He is on MSNBC regularly now.
He has a morning drive show here. I enjoy listening once in a while.
It's not all politics. Sometimes, it's music and pop culture (in the greater picture discussion, not mindless gossip) or a short segment on sports. Agian, on the greater social picture.
If any of you -- of either political stripe -- can get The Big Talker 1210 on the Internet, I recommend Michael Smerconish's morning show.
