I don't think they are assholes if they could do that.

They are theives and low lifes - but, not assholes.

Hope you are able to rectify the whole thing with little effort.

Ww. That sucks. Here we thought PayPal was pretty safe.

I had a bunch of outgoing mail evaporate in April. It must have been stolen from my mailbox, and the guy who got my checks used the account number and routing number to open an account. On Ghetto Gaggers.com, where black chicks suck white dicks. No lie. For 30 bucks a month. So I got an inept petty crook and my money back and a good laugh and pay as many bills online as I can now.

Mr. Showtimeness tells me I need to update my PayPal information, or my account has been suspended due to suspicious activity and click the link to reactivate it. Like I have PayPal. I don't do eBay...

I am so mad! I feel like I have been raped!

Paypal stopped the transaction. They are investigating the seller.

I have been on hold with eBay forever!

Why would they investigate the seller?

Apparently a lot of people bought $2,000 computers from him today.

I'd like to see the description of the computer. It takes quite a lot to make a $2000 computer nowadays.

I was wondering what that extra dollar was all about! At that price, we're talking grand theft, huh. And probably on the seller's end, too...

From ebay:

To protect the Community against unauthorized account access, eBay has started noting which computers members use. For your protection, if you attempt to sign in from an unknown computer - for example, from a library or hotel – eBay will make an automated phone call to your registered phone number to confirm your identity. It is now vital that the phone number and secret question on your account are kept up to date

So did they stop the perp before he made the purchase or is this an investigation after the fact?

Wow. Someone on dial-up or even cable that gets a different IP address all the time would be a huge problem.

That's a realistic price.

Did they stop it themselves or did you notice and call them?

Did they tell you you should get a PayPal Security Key device?
