The Surge certainly has a different meaning today.

I've having Hugo flashbacks and praying for the Gulf Coasters.

Well, we're in clean out the pantry and all that mode. Assuming the storm conforms to the models, that have all pretty much held for the last while, Ike comes up I-45 right over us. I think this one is the real deal. Weather should start deteriorating around here this afternoon, I guess.

BiT, AJ and everybody else around here, I'm sorry, but my fingers are nervous, so I can't type everybody, please hunker down and stay safe. I pray for all of us.

Those of you up norther please be on the lookout-prayers for you guys as it heads away.

Galveston is an indescribable nightmare looking scenario. I was up at 5:30 watching the seawall get mocked. It's horrible.

Anyway, talk at ya on the backside.

Beebs, I hope you have a large stock of shelf-stable melange! The coastline is hosed, but you guys are probably going to have electricity issues for a while. That's the suckiest part, when the storm passes and the temps go back to the upper 80's and there's no AC.

Actually everyone's been told to hunker down now. They're afraid people would be caught on the roads. Since I-10 turns into a canal with even a mild thunderstorm, that's a good idea.

A hunkerin' we are. We're 70 miles inland so no storm surge for us. Just hurricane winds and rain. We also aren't called The Woodlands for no reason...yikes.

We know we're hosed, cause you, Jim, aren't here...yowzers.

Also, the electricity thingie. Good thing we've been sitting outside acclimating to suffering while doing crossword puzzles.

Two of our neighbors have generators so maybe we'll be able to take showers if the power goes out.

And, AND, Jeff woke up thinking this was Saturday and he could watch the game after all even though all the channels are hurricane central. It's going to be on ESPN. I told him, "Dear. It's Friday. Saturday morning is when the storm hits. So, if you have power, why, yes indeed you can watch the game."

Wait. Is Cantore here? If he is maybe Ike will go away. I've just been watching the local channels.

On a non-hurricane related note...I've got a friend whose husband is in the timber business. He has a bumper sticker on his car that says "GotWood".

I kid you not. They are the most naive people in the world. He thinks the sticker is about timber. He looks at me strange whenever I giggle at his car.

I was wondering why I was getting a busy signal this morning on my direct hotline to God. I guess it's better than when He just ignores me when I show up on His Caller ID....

Yes. I think she said she was going to a relaltive's house.

She was worried about being in a house with glass and such with trees all around. She is smart.
