The elementary school gave up and asked for optional donations, and I was thrilled because they previously had the same fundraiser as Stephen's private school, which got a two-week jump on the public ones. Our neighbors now send their daughter to the same school, and across the street, their granchildren now attend, so we don't have the usual suckers--I mean, customers to shill to and I am glad to only have to buy from one kid, if at all. The middle school doesn't have a fundraiser, but I sponsored the newsletter and Rain Man will usually have something for the orchestra later.

I'd be broke if they sold cookie dough. I have to confess to having four freezers, so I don't have an excuse not to stock up...

News flash! I figured out why Molly named her hamster "Linda". It's after the actress who played the female lead in the Terminator movie, Linda Hamsterton.
I officially love Molly even more! That is so clever!

Mini-me's hamster is named Stuey or Stewie or however you spell it. After Stuart Little. It's a Chinese dwarf hamster, and it is smaller than the industrial-strength mouse that Rain Man has. I call it industrial strength because we realize quickly why mice sell for only 5 bucks (they REEK to high heaven!), so when Mini-me's mouse died we replaced it with a less-pungent hamster, then that hamster was replaced by another hamster, but Rain Man's mouse keeps hanging in there. I fear it is really and Animagus and I'm stuck with it for a while....

We had a guinea pig back in the day. My stupid sisters named it Herberta.... about the most ignornat thing I've ever heard.

I started calling it Piggie, and the name stuck. Even the sister who gave it the dumb name started calling it Piggie.

Damn thing lived 6 years.... longer than most of the cats and dogs we had.....

I have a whole bunch of mice I'll give you for free. I've been taking them across the street after I trap them.

I call my niece's guinea pigs the schquirt-schquirts after the squeaking noise they make. Actually, it's pig, singular, after one kicked the bucket, and I've been told I'll inherit the survivor if it's around when my niece goes to college, since I love guinea pigs and her parents don't. Six years is an awful long time for a rodent--was Rain Man taking care of it? He has a way with critters....

The secret to Piggie's longevity remains a mystery. I think it was already a year old when we got it from one of my cousins....

I guess it helped that it was never offered up as a sacrifice to Sonny....
