You and I are lucky. We can sit back in luxury and bemoan (or not, as the case might be) the fact that loving young men and women are going to have to do hard things in Gaza so that Hamas (hopefully) will not be capable of committing such actions again.

My favorite picture that I have seen so far was of 2 young Israeli soldiers in a tank making a heart symbol with their hands. I suspect that is the symbol that these troops carry in their soul as they do the hard things ahead.

Putting all the historical and political arguments aside, no city, state or nation that is led by a barbaric, terrorist faction like Hamas should ever be allowed to come into existence. PERIOD.

Finding leadership that can be accepted in the civilized world involves removing Hamas by force. There aren't any free elections in Gaza. And the residents of Gaza don't have the power to remove Hamas by force without outside intervention. That outside intervention will be coming any day now.

For Hamas, Gaza civilian casualties are a feature, not a bug, as the more Gaza civilian casualties there are-the more people like Earendel will bitch and complain at Israel.
