Thanks for giving such a generous spread. I didn't know the exact date, but it has to be 2713 AUC.
3. Polenta is a peasant food made out of what basic ingredient?
Cornmeal. It's gross, but don't let on to the Italian lady that just dished it out to you. They're touchy about that sort of thing. Ha!

Spoiler
1. Aventine and Quirinal (this is a tricky question, because in the earliest days the list of the Seven Hills was a bit different, but I assume you are looking for the 'usual' list of the Seven Hills)
2. 2713 AUC (another tricky question: you forgot that there is no year '0', so that it should actually be 2712 AUC)
3. Grain. Today it is usually cornmeal (like US grits), but before the time of Columbus (when Italians did not have corn) it would have been other grains, which varied from period to period, and would have included wheat, or farina, or other things like that.

Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Although I have had the pleasure of walking at least several of them some years ago I can think of perhaps only three. Capitoline and Palatine I am pretty sure of. The third one I recall is Equiline I believe. Fortunately I need only two...

Can I phone a friend? No??? Ah well, then I will SWAG with B as it seems most plausible.
3. Polenta is a peasant food made out of what basic ingredient?
Corn. Italian grits...
4. The Pilum was a weapon used by the Roman legions, which is most similar to what item used in an Olympic track & field event?
SWAG with Javelin. Sounds vaguely familiar as if it was a question in a past QOD. Also seems the most "weapon-y" of the track & field items.

ANSWERS
1. Name any two of the Seven Hills of Rome.
Aventine, Caelian, Capitoline, Esquiline, Palatine, Quirinal and Viminal. Half credit to anyone who only named one hill.
I was generous with the various spellings of Capitoline.
Now what am I supposed to do about someone who duplicates one of LFHP's answers without specifying that they're also looking for humor points?
2. Ancient Roman scholars might have called 1960 AD what year Ab Urbe condita ("from the founding of the City")?
A) 1379 AUC B) 2713 AUC
C) 5720 AUC D) 7468 AUC
2713 was the year AUC, calculating from the traditional date for the founding of Rome in 753 BC. Yes, I took a WWOQ and went easy on you with some well-spaced-out choices. The other choices also happened to be relevant. 1379(-1380) was the year in the Islamic calendar, 5720(-5721) in the Hebrew calendar and 7468(-7469) in the Byzantine calendar.
3. Polenta is a peasant food made out of what basic ingredient?
Cornmeal. Wintergreen included that answer in a lengthier discussion about historical usages before the introduction of maize to Europe, but nowadays, it's corn.
In my family, though, polenta will always be known as mamaliga.
4. The Pilum was a weapon used by the Roman legions, which is most similar to what item used in an Olympic track & field event?
Javelin.
